Since 1994, YACHANA FOUNDATION (formally FUNEDESIN) has purchased more than 4,300 acres of rainforest.
In 2002, the Ecuadorian Ministry of Environment declared all of this rainforest land a Protected Forest.
Buying rainforest is only part of the solution, protecting and managing it are also vitally important. YACHANA is actively involving the participation of the students from the Yachana High School in this process. In this very practical approach to conservation education, the students take what they have learned back to their families and farms. We believe that the future of the rainforest is inextricably linked to the wellbeing of the people who call the forest their home. We are providing an education that will help them protect their environment.
Our Adopt an Acre of Rainforest program provides the funds we need to continue this important work.
For just $15 a month, or $180 per year, you can adopt and protect an entire acre of tropical rainforest in Ecuador’s Amazon region.
When you adopt an acre, you receive:
- A Certificate of Adoption. This certificate recognizes your important contribution to the future of Ecuador’s rainforest. The certificate is suitable for framing.

- Discounted Jungle Tours. We want you to visit your acre. To help, we give you a 15% discount off of the regular price of Yachana Lodge tours during the one year term of your adoption.
- A Yachana Gourmet and YACHANA FOUNDATION Educational Video. This video provides a window into Ecuador’s rainforest. Through breathtaking imagery and informative narrative, the 17-minute video explains the work of YACHANA FOUNDATION and Yachana Gourmet.
