Why We Need Your Help

• 74% of the population lives in poverty.
• More than 95% of the inhabitants suffer from intestinal parasites.
• One in four children under the age of five suffer diarrhea every two weeks.
• Only 32.9% of children receive all the necessary immunizations (diphtheria, measles, polio, tetanus, and tuberculosis) before they reach the age of one.
• In the rural areas of the Ecuadorian Amazon, only 5% of boys and just 2% of girls finish secondary school. 30% drop out before the sixth grade.
• At 1.2% annually, Ecuador’s deforestation rate is three times higher than any other country in South America and six times higher than the global average.
